Microsoft Office 2007 PDF Print E-mail

Compatibility information for staff and students with Office 2007.

The college currently uses Microsoft Office 2003 on all computers. The latest version, Microsoft Office 2007, saves documents in a different file format that is not compatible with the version used at college.

If you need to open documents at college that you have created using Office 2007, you will need to save them in the correct format. The following video's show you how to do this (you will need to click the play button to view them) - These video's in a higher quality can be downloaded from the Documents - Software section of the website (you will need Adobe Flash Player installed on your computer to view them)

Year 8 Video Conferencing – Operation Montserrat

By Harriet Timmons

1.jpgOn Monday the 17th of November a lucky group of year 8 students got together for a fun video conference activity with the National Space Centre. The students really enjoyed the day and were able to gain experience in Maths, ICT, Enterprise and Geography in one cross curricular activity.

The students were going to have to save the people on the island of Montserrat from a deadly volcano eruption and an approaching hurricane. To complete the mission students were put into five groups:

1. Communication Team
2. Evacuation Team
3. Volcano Team
4. Satellite Team
5. Hurricane Team

The Communication team had to organise what was going on and communicate with the people at the space centre.
The Evacuation group had to get as many people evacuated as possible with the facilities given. The Volcano group had to monitor when the volcano was going to erupt, checking the amount of rock fall. The Satellite group had to check that the satellite was monitoring the island. Finally the hurricane group had to monitor the hurricane heading towards the island.

The students worked very well in the individual groups and as a collective team as they were under pressure to get all the information needed.

The students successfully worked together as a team and managed to save 8000 people’s lives!
