Tameside College is helping to build the future generation of skills in carpentry and joinery, brickwork and painting and decorating.
Students from our college have completed an eight week taster with Tameside College’s construction club. The club is aimed at encouraging more school students to think about careers in the construction industry.
Carl Shaw, curriculum leader for construction at Tameside College, said: “Every one of the students has represented their school amazingly well and they are welcome back anytime. It’s so important that young people learn these skills and hopefully the construction club will make them consider coming to the college full time in the future”
Matthew Dunne, St Thomas More College student, said: “I eventually want to go into construction like some of my family members, so the construction club was really great for me. I especially enjoyed the painting and decorating where we made colour wheels and wall art”.
After completing their time with the college, the following students received a goody bag and certificate:
Harry Cornwell, Oliver Blinston, Matthew Dunne, William Bottoms, Alex Collins, Dillon Comerford, Liam McGreavey
