Geography Curriculum Intent

Our Geography curriculum is designed to develop children’s curiosity and fascination about the world and its people that will remain with them for the rest of their lives. We aim to enthuse students about their world, their country and their local area and help students live a sustainable life.

The sequence of lessons is mapped out and followed by all 3 members of the Geography department.

Students are given access to human, physical and environmental geography and as they progress through Key Stage three and GSCE the curriculum develops the links between the geographical concepts.  Key words are given each lesson to develop literacy and a range of resources and texts are used within lessons for all abilities to access.  A wide range of skills are introduced in year 7 and built upon as they progress through to year 11. Each year group covers a wide range of assessment objectives that are revisited where misconceptions are highlighted.
